Vitamin E grows hair. Vitamin E is also used to increase brain function, slow the aging process, improve heart health and prevent diabetes. One of the functions of vitamin E is to soften the red blood cells. This then increases circulation by improving blood flow and is why vitamin E grows hair.
Types of vitamin E
Vitamin E can be found in eight types. Four are tocopherols and four are tocotrienoils. Most Americans’ diet is rich in gamma-tocopherols while the Europeans’ is high in alpha tocopherols. Adding nuts to the diet is a great way to get more vitamin E, as nuts contain high amounts of this valuable nutrient.
Vitamin E increases blood flow
Vitamin E is used for heart health. This is because, as we age, the membranes of the cells are less flexible and have a hard time getting through the capillaries. The smallest capillaries can become too small for the blood cells to pass into unless the cells can bend. Vitamin E allows the blood cells to become more flexible and able to bend into the smallest capillaries. Because of this, blood can get into the extremities better, and also into organs.
Research has shown that the lining of the cell vessels can improve in as little as five days after adding vitamin E as gamma-tocopherols to the diet as reported in Journal of Nutritional Biochemistry. The study also demonstrated that vitamin E reduced a marker of oxidative stress called or MDA. In the study, men were given 500 mg of gamma-tocopherol, 60 mg of alpha-tocopherol, 170 mg of delta tocopherol, and nine mg of beta-tocopherol.
Vitamin E increases brain function
Alzheimer’s disease may also be prevented by taking vitamin E. research has shown that people who have lower levels of serum vitamin E are at higher risk for developing Alzheimer’s. The research concluded that a low level of vitamin E in the blood was a precursor to Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Vitamin E grows hair
Vitamin E grows hair and can also regrow hair after it has fallen out. Vitamin E helps increase circulation to the scalp, thereby stimulating the growth follicles for hair. To grow hair, vitamin E can be taken internally, or applies to the scalp.
Vitamin E helps treat diabetes
Vitamin E treats diabetes. Research has shown that taking 1,800 IE of vitamin E per day improves the kidney function and blood flow in people with diabetes. Vitamin E also prevents diabetic neuropathy in some people with Type I diabetes, and because it does not raise the blood sugar, it can be used to treat hyperglycemia.
Food sources of vitamin E
Vitamin E can be taken as a food supplement or it can be sourced in a variety of foods. Foods high in vitamin E eggs, olives and nuts. Sunflower seeds contain over 36 mg per 100 grams. Almonds contain 26 mg per 100 grams, and pine nuts have nine grams. Olives add 3.8 grams per 1,000 grams. Spices such as chili and paprika also contain vitamin E- 30 mg per gram, or 2 mg per teaspoon.
Add vitamin E to your diet to improve heart health, grow hair and prevent diabetes.
